Hear me out… Denim jumpsuits for work. That’s right! Add a blazer, heels, and a clutch or briefcase for a casually professional look. Cinch it at the waist and cuff the ankles to appear even more put-together.

For warmer days (and to show off your gorgeous legs), opt for a thigh-length or knee-length denim skirt. A light wash with a raw edge has a cool-girl vibe, and the cashmere V-neck sweater, elevated accessories, and autumnal booties make this look effortlessly chic.

I’m not-so-secretly obsessed with denim skirts that have buttons down the front. The buttons add visual intrigue while elongating the silhouette.

A front slit can also have a lengthening effect. It also gives you a window to play around with leggings, stockings, or tall boots. Add a slouchy sweater and a thin belt for a chic look, whether you’re grocery shopping or going on a fall dates.

Here’s the kicker… Denim skirts can be used like pencil skirts! A dark wash denim skirt can be perfect for the office when paired with a crisp button-up, dark boots, and a designer belt.

How to do denim-on-denim right

Denim-on-denim was hot in the early 2000s, so it’s come back into fashion with the resurgence of millennial fashion. But there’s a skill to pairing denim so your style feels contemporary and fresh. Here are some of our tips for mixing and matching denim.

Choose denim pieces in different washes or shades to create contrast. Opt for a lighter wash on top and darker on bottom, or vice versa. Avoid matching denim shades too closely to prevent the outfit from looking too uniform (unless that’s what you’re going for).

Use statement accessories like leather belts, patterned scarves, and bright jewelry to break up the denim and add visual interest. Choose your accessories purposefully to enhance the overall outfit.

Add more textures to break up the denim monotony. Leather, suede, and knit all pair gorgeously with denim. I love adding animal prints like cheetah or zebra to create a raw, striking contrast.
