How to Dress for a Home Date Night for Valentine’s Day 2021

Valentine's Craving Current

The only thing better than going out for Valentine’s Day? Staying in! Not only does staying in mean avoiding those Valentine’s Day 2021 crowds (especially during COVID-19), but it’s also an opportunity to make the night even more romantic and special with your beloved! Or maybe you’re dressing for a small Galentine’s gathering with your friends and not sure what to wear. Or you just want to dress to show yourself some extra love this year.

In this article, we’re giving you a few Cupid-worthy tips to style your home V-day date night outfit beautifully and simply.

Get dressed up for Valentine’s Day 2021!

Aside from celebrating love and my loved ones, one of my favorite parts about celebrating Valentine’s Day is the excuse to get dressed up. (As if I need an excuse, though!) Even if you’re not leaving the house this year, you can and should still treat this like a special date night. Throw on an outfit that makes you look and feel gorgeous. Do your hair and makeup. Dust off those heels that haven’t been out of your closet in over a year.

Studies show that the way you dress can impact your mood and psychology. If you dress in something sexy and romantic for Valentine’s Day, you’ll trick your brain into feeling sexier and more romantic—even if you’re sitting in your kitchen. So throw on something that makes you feel good! Remember that loving someone else starts with loving yourself… And clothes can definitely have a positive impact on your confidence and mindset!

Our favorite Valentine’s Day 2021 “dress up” trending looks are:

  • Lace
  • Pinks and reds
  • Neutral heels
  • Small purses

Lace

Lace, lace, lace. We love lace everything. Whether it’s a little black dress with lace trim, a long-sleeve lace dress, or even a lace-lined jacket, we are obsessed with this delicate and feminine pattern. Even flowy lace crop tops are totally trendy with a vibe that’s both divinely goddess and hippie ‘70s. (Whenever I think of lace, I think of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress sleeves. Is there anything more princess-like and elegant than that?)

High-end lace can feel a little out of reach sometimes, right? Not at Current Boutique! We have a Lace Affair collection that is filled with our current lace finds that you won’t be able to nab anywhere else. And everything is a fraction of its original retail price! At the time of writing this, we currently have an Alice & Olivia white lace sheath dress down from $465 retail price… selling on our site for $156.99! Go and grab your effortlessly stunning lace look for Valentine’s Day 2021!

Pinks and reds

It’s no surprise that pink and red are trending for Valentine’s Day. But what’s interesting is that we’re seeing an emphasis on softer, muted colors this year, like pastel pinks and boho reds. If you’re purchasing a new lace dress from our Lace Affair collection, look for more muted colors. For those who prefer brighter colors or want to sport your favorite hot red dress, pair it with a light-colored cardigan (like white, beige, or light pink) for a more subdued overall style. I personally love the look of a bright red dress and pastel pink cardigan—it’s bold yet feminine for the perfect Valentine’s Day mix!

If you’re looking for a lace dress that will always be on-trend, go for white lace with a flattering silhouette. You can’t go wrong!

Neutral heels

My life changed the day I realized I can wear heels inside if I want to. There are no rules when it comes to fashion! If you like getting dressed up—either for your partner or for yourself—you don’t have to forgo the heels just because you’re staying home.

I am loving that 2021 is bringing back the look of heels in neutrals and nudes. Nude colored heels are so easy to match—they go with white, black, red, and every other color imaginable! You can even wear nude heels with a nude dress! If you don’t have a pair of nude heels, now is the time to add this essential must-have to your closet.

Pro-tip: Swipe the sole of your heels with a baby wipe to remove any grime that you could track around your house.

Small purses

Smaller purses are particularly trending in the beginning of 2021. These small purses give off that sort of early 20-s vibe where you just used your purse to carry your lip gloss, a few hair scrunchies, and your flip phone (that couldn’t take pictures). We love this cute, dainty look, especially for the holiday of love!

For Valentine’s Day this year, throw a little bag under your arm or set it on the table beside you to complete the look. Even if there’s nothing inside, give your purses a little workout (out of your closet and all the way to the kitchen) to remind them that you love them.

“Small purses” includes clutches and wallet bags as well as our beloved “baguette.” We don’t have a lot of baguettes left in stock at Current Boutique because women have been buying them up as fast as we get them! Check out our collection of small and romantic baguettes here. And don’t forget to keep checking back because we are constantly updating our inventory!

Or get dressed down…

One of the benefits of not going out for Valentine’s Day is that you don’t have to feel the pressure to get all dolled up if you don’t want to. Maybe you want to have a more relaxed and intimate night this year, and that’s cool too!

Look stay-at-home ready for Valentine’s Day 2021 with:

  • Cashmere
  • Black leggings
  • Stacked jewelry
  • Confidence

Cashmere

Cashmere is a baby-soft fabric that has become a staple piece for every woman’s wardrobe. This cuddle-worthy material is both flattering and romantic, no matter how you wear it. While cashmere is typically thought of as a “getting dressed up” sort of look, we’re seeing a lot of cashmere pieces come into everyday life, particularly with the movement towards work from home style. A soft cashmere sweater or even joggers can make you feel cozy and comfortable while also looking oh-so-sexy for your Valentine’s night bash at home.

Black leggings

Black leggings are comfortable, flattering, and easy to wear. Throw them under a dress, blouse, fashion blazer, or t-shirt, and you’re good to go. I feel like I don’t need to say much else here because you probably already love black leggings as much as I do, so the fact that they are still fashionable tells me that they’re a staple piece for the long haul. (Thank goodness for that!)

Stacked jewelry

Minimalist jewelry is always trendy. While statement pieces may come in and out of style, a dainty chain or studs will create the same refined look throughout the ages. For Valentine’s Day 2021, we’re seeing that “stacked” jewelry is popular. This means wearing several pieces of minimalistic jewelry to create a statement look. For necklaces, this means several necklaces of varying lengths. For rings, it means a few rings on each finger. Bracelet bangles are making a comeback too. Check out this fashion-forward article about how to stack jewelry like an “it girl.”

Confidence

For V-Day, you can wear the cutest going-out dress or you could dress down in your lingerie. It really doesn’t matter as long as you feel good. Nothing is sexier than confidence! If you love yourself, Valentine’s Day is going to feel even better for you and your loved ones.
